Fossil Free Product Standard Consultation
In collaboration with the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and Italian National Standards Body (UNI), LINGO is currently developing the world’s first standardization document that allows companies to certify products as “fossil free” or “partially fossil free” where no fossil fuels or fossil materials are used in the supply chain.
The document is called a CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) and – once finalized – will enable third-party certification bodies to certify fossil free products.
The 30-day open consultation phase, has been launched coinciding with the start of COP29, and feedback from all stakeholders internationally (not only Europe) is invited to ensure the guidelines are practical and applicable.
The standard aims to set a framework for transitioning industry operations away from fossil fuels and fossil materials.
