Climate & Energy Transition Glossary in Arabic
A guide to environmental concepts and energy transition terms in Arabic
Interest groups associated with the fossil fuel industry – indifferent to the danger and death that they cause – promote misleading and wrong environmental practices and terms in an attempt to convince people around the world that they are not responsible for the climate crisis, and to silence those who are calling for an end to the use of fossil fuels, which would directly affect their profits.
To counter this misinformation, especially in the Arab region, and to ensure a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the climate crisis and the policies and factors related to it, Lingo has developed a guide to environmental concepts and energy transition terminology in Arabic, so that Arab journalists, researchers and environmental activists can use environmentally friendly language in their reports and research, to impact decision-makers and public opinion.
The people of Arab countries in particular suffer from the climate crisis more than others around the world, as the average temperature rises by more than double the global average, which exposes the region to climatic disasters such as drought, threatening food security, floods, fires, and high death rates due to high temperatures, in addition to the risk of drowning some of its cities.
The guide consists of 6 chapters that include important terms and concepts related to the climate crisis:
1. Basic Concepts
2. Causes
3. Effects of the climate disaster
4. The international response
5. False solutions
6. Real Solutions
